Megh Singh Cushion Maker Ltd Is a family owned business that was established in 1961 by Mr. Megh Singh. The company focuses on upholstery of vehicles and caters around the needs of the East and Central African market consumers.
Over the years we started supplying OEM products to the local motor vehicle assembly plants. We are the market leaders in manufacturing, supplying and re upholstery of vehicle soft trim in the local market.
The parent company Megh Singh Cushion Makers started operations in 1961 as a
family business catering for automobile re-upholstery and repairs. The company continued to grow becoming a market leader in the sector.
With the start of motor vehicle assembly in Kenya, another company Megh Cushion Industries Limited was incorporated in 1976
A new purpose built factory was constructed and the company which had started
with 6 employees was now employing 140 producing components for 28 different models of vehicles.
Production of trim kits was increased supplying 14,000 trim kits annually in Nairobi.
Restrictions in forex allocations in the early nineties caused drastic reductions in CKD motor assembly and the company diversified into bus, coach and minibus seating to supplement the spare capacity created by reduced demand for CKD parts.
The company has also diversified into converting standard vehicles into specialized 4WD Safari transporters for the tour operators in the East African region. Our expertise has extended into single to double cabin conversions, mobile x-ray & veterinary clinics, Mobile offices based on chassis of a Toyota land cruiser 79, Mercedes sprinters and/or small wheelbase trucks, as well as strong and hard wearing polyurethane ‘tuff guard’ coatings, heavy duty bush guards, custom made roof racks, wheel carriers and many other 4WD accessories. The company also supplies heavy duty transport fabric and carpets to the coach builders in the region and equipping of standard vehicles to full spec ambulances.
Company name changed to Megh Singh Cushion Makers Ltd - manufacturing bus, coach and matatu seats and accessories. A fully equipped garage and panel beating workshop complete with spray booth and baking oven. The garage also has Jigs for straightening Chassis of vehicles of any size and type.
With a workforce of 65 employees. Workshop area 22,000 sq ft. with separate
secured parking of up to 50 vehicles.
